Etterna player suffers from an itchy nose just 5 minutes into a marathon chart!
by James 'UwU you're so warm' May - Oct 28, 2024
At 5pm, October 28, in their Bri'ish home, an Etterna player by the name of "Samctuary" began their session, it all began seemingly normal, as they scrolled over to a marathon chart they had just recently finished charting, called "Re:live". They started playing, and all seemed well, until 5 minutes into the chart, reports claim that Samctuary's nose began to itch.
“I thought I could ignore it at first,” Sam recounted, visibly distraught. “But by minute seven, it felt like a mosquito had settled right there and was tap-dancing. I tried to scratch it with my shoulder, but it only made things worse, as doing so lead to a couple of greats.”

Despite the immensely irritating distraction, Sam was determined not to fail the chart. Eye witness reports from those around the victim say they saw Sam repeatedly got greats on easy sections, and gettinng greats even out of seemingly nowhere on empty segments with single notes, as if Sam was deeply distracted due to the itchy nose.
Sam’s ordeal continued until the 14-minute mark when, according to their account, they "absolutely couldn’t take it anymore." Desperate, they threw away the full combo they had up to that point to try and scratch the itch, but missed 4 notes as a result.
The experience has been felt throughout the Etterna community, as many of the players could relate to Sam's struggle, and openly shared their struggles with itchy noses during their sessions. It seems this problem might be bigger than Sam initially thought.
“I will always worry about an itchy nose when playing from now on" Sam says, when asked on the matter "I will make sure to itch my nose before every marathon chart.. how much that will help, however, I have no idea"
The chart in question is a chart called "Re:Live", which is apparently a collaboration between 3 separate charters, Samctuary, Sheenoboo and James May. It can be found here!
